We baked cookies a few times over the holidays. The above photo shows the cookies we made for my mother's side on Christmas Eve. We've had a tradition of making frosted sugared cookies every year where we write all the guests' names on the cookies with frosting. This tradition dates back to at least my childhood when I used to make cookies with my Aunts Shannon and Robin. Robin used to decorate her cookies very beautifully using only a toothpick! We've advanced in technology, though, and my sister Amy had all sorts of cake decorating tools for us to use.
Another day my mom had a great cookie idea for the kids -- peanut butter cookies where you roll the dough into balls and then press in miniature Reese's cups when the cookies are just hot out of the oven.
Finally, my son shares my good taste. 50% of the reason I bake is just to eat the batter. Yum!
