Santa knew the way to my Aunt Jennie's this year. That's where Sean, Rafe, and I were celebrating Christmas Eve with my mom's side of the family. We had nine children there in total, and they were ecstatic to see Santa. We were playing in my aunt's playroom when...
Out on the golf course there arose such a clatter,
We sprang from our games to see what was the matter.
Away to the window the kids flew like a flash,
And pressed noses on glass until they were mashed.
What to their wondering eyes did appear,
But Old St. Nick (although no reindeer).
OK, so that wasn't my best attempt at cribbing from the classic The Night Before Christmas. Maybe I'll get better as time goes on. :-)
Rafe was able to sit on Santa's lap and make his toy request (a fire station -- although in the days leading up to this he kept saying he wanted a Storm Trooper gun. I pretended not to hear this.)
Santa brought toys even though it was only Christmas Eve! Rafe asked him to be sure to come to Grandpa Jeff's house to leave any more toys because that's where we would wake up the next morning. Then Rafe told Santa he had a plan to put out carrots and try to catch Rudolph, but Santa said that wouldn't be possible because he was very sneaky.
There was also a Santa-in-training at our party. He looks like he is taking his future job very seriously. That's my cousin Brook's baby by the way. His name is Gabriel.
