The Special Innkeeper

Rafe's preschool put on a Christmas play at the church across the street from our house. Rafe's part was The Special Innkeeper and he had to memorize three lines. We worked on it for a couple of weeks, and he recited his lines like a champ when the play went live. He was the innkeeper who found room for Mary and Joseph in the stable behind his inn. That's why he got to have a red key and the other innkeepers wore white keys. He certainly moved up from his part last year which was a tree. His only lines were "Swish, swish."

You can see the whole cast in the next two photos. All three grades of the preschool participated. There were donkeys and soldiers, stars and neighbors, and of course Joseph and Mary. You can see in the photos that they had problems finding a boy who would volunteer to be Joseph this year. They have fewer boys than girls in Rafe's class anyway. They found a girl who would play Joseph, and I think she did a great job!

Here were Rafe's lines:

There is a quiet place where you two can stay for the night.
It is behind this inn.
It is only a stable, but you will find shelter from the night air and be able to rest there.
