Soccer Lessons

Rafe is taking soccer lessons on Saturday mornings now. They work on simple skills like dribbling and passing. Sean said he is the youngest in the class, but he still keeps up with the older kids pretty well. He also plays soccer on Sunday afternoons. A father of one of the children in Rafe's preschool organized Sunday soccer at the elementary school one block from us. It is really informal. There are about 8 kids there -- all 3 to 4 year olds. They practice some drills and then stop to play a game (like duck duck goose) and then go back to a bit more soccer. Rafe is doing much better this fall at participating in a group than he did last fall. Last year he just wanted to run around the park continuously while kicking the ball. This year he actually listens to the coach (well, most of the time he listens). He seems to have a lot of fun playing, and it's fun for me to watch him interact with the coaches and other kids.
